We recently completed an extensive renovation on a charming family home in Floreat, WA. The project was a true labour of love, transforming a very old and outdated home into a modern, open-plan living space.
Our client wanted a complete transformation of their home, focusing on modernisation and opening up the interior to create a more spacious feel.
The kitchen was to be the focal point of the house, seamlessly integrating with the living and dining areas to form one expansive, open-plan space. The vision also included brand-new cabinets and stone benchtops, along with fresh lighting, electrical upgrades, and new windows and doors.
This was a major renovation of an older home, which presented several challenges. The structure was far from level, with ceilings and walls that were out of plumb, creating difficulties in achieving the smooth, modern finishes our client desired. Additionally, many of the internal walls had been rendered, requiring us to gyprock them for a flawless surface, many of the pipes that made up the plumbing system had rusted and the electrical wiring was so outdated it posed a safety hazard. All of this necessitated a complete upgrade to ensure the home met modern safety standards. With so many variables at play, the project required careful planning and expertise at every stage.
The renovation took three months to complete, during which we worked meticulously to address all challenges and deliver the high-quality results our client envisioned. We began by removing the large walls that previously divided the kitchen from the living and dining areas, creating an open-plan space that brought light and airiness to the heart of the home. New windows and doors were installed, improving both the aesthetics and the functionality of the home.
The kitchen, now the star of the home, features sleek new cabinets and stunning stone benchtops, providing both style and practicality. The bathrooms and laundry were fully renovated, with modern fittings and finishes that match the contemporary feel of the home. The upgraded electrical systems throughout the property and new lighting ensured that every corner was both well-lit and energy-efficient.
To complement the fresh design, new flooring was laid throughout the home, and the ceilings were upgraded to give the space a contemporary feel. Every detail was carefully considered to ensure the home not only looked fantastic but also functioned perfectly for the family’s needs.
